vegetable ivory
Come and learn more about the vegetable ivory, a natural material that comes from a palm tree; we can take you to visit a real factory where you can see how we make buttons, jewelry, and small figures we use to decorate our homes.
you can include this in the Manta's highlights and Montecristi tour.
The Tagua nut goes through a process before it becomes a button or jewelry.
Firstly the nut needs to dry for a month, once is dried, we peal the nut and then it will be ready to be cut or dyed with color; the nut will be taken into a spinning box, where it will be sanded and after, helped by a wooden spinning box they will be polished and carved through to become a button.
