Founded in 1824, Montecristi is known by its traditions of weaving hats; this was the place where our ex president back in 1895 Eloy Alfaro was born, considered as a national hero for the work he did during his administration, born in one of the wealthiest families in the province, despite his origins, he fought for the less fortunate rights, in an age when the rich class privileges prevailed over the poor; Montecristi, is also the small town where our Assembly building, where we signed our last constitution in 2008; this building held a beautiful museum and a nice shop area, where you can buy a little souvenir.

Grown and processed in Montecristi; this particular kind of coffee is a mix of Arabic and a wild kind of coffee bean we called Robusta, delicious flavor and smell; you cannot leave without giving it a try.
You can try our hot chocolate, also grown and processed here in Manabí; we would like to point out that our chocolate has given 15 international awards, and it is considered one of the best in the world .
Our typical Empanada, which dough is based on plantain. You can enjoy it stuffed with cheese or chicken; just don't forget to put some of our spicy salsa on it, to make it even more delicious.
